What makes a good carer
Some of the attributes that stand carers in good stead are
- Understanding and sensitivity for children's emotional needs
- A real interest in caring for a child's day-to-day needs
- Patience, kindness and self awareness
- A firm but fair approach
- A willingness to look at things from another perspective
- An ability to take on information
- Exposure to family situations
- Faith or strong relationships to draw upon
- Personal resilience and maturity
- Experience of working with children, parenting
- A good sense of humour
